Miles of Smiles:

Miles of Smiles travel tours was started in 2001 by retired Spanish and Italian teacher James Matarese of Columbus, New Jersey. He can be contacted at 609-298-6710

Over the past years annual trips during the Easter period have taken place to Sicily, Southern Italy, Northern Italy, Portugal and Spain. Special emphasis is placed on visiting the historic, cultural and religious points of interest in each city of the tour. Local guides provide a deep insight into the areas visited.

These fully escorted tours are open to anyone capable of doing some short walking and who has an interest in learning more about various locations in Italy and Spain. Accommodations are usually in 4 and 5 star hotels in locations convenient for shopping. At least two meals a day are included with an initial “get to know each other” cocktail party and a farewell dinner. Local travel is with a deluxe motor coach and there is ample time for relaxation and shopping.

This year the tour will visit Sicily and southern Italy (click here for detailed itinerary). The Miles of Smiles trip for the spring of 2007 is scheduled to visit Germany, Austria and Switzerland

Trip organizer James (Jim) Matarese, has taken many trips with his students over the years and has retired after teaching Spanish and Italian at NJ high schools for over 35 years.
