ITINERARY

Day 1 Friday, March 6     DEPARTURE
Depart from Kennedy airport with Delta Airlines. Non stop flight # DL 148 leaves at 5:10pm. Check-in should be around 2:00pm. Transfer from Harrisburg campus to Kennedy will be provided.
N.B. Depending on the final size of the group, either a private transfer will be arranged at an additional cost or public transportation will be considered.

Day 2 Saturday, March 7     ROME
Arrive at Rome Fiumicino airport at 8:00am. Assistance and transfer to Hotel Diana. This hotel is conveniently located in the centre of Rome, close to Termini Station and the city bus terminal. Check-in at the hotel is after 2:00pm. Remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 3 Sunday, March 8     ROME
You can take public transportation or walk to the Coliseum. At 9:30am meet your English speaking local guide for a 3 hour tour of the Forum and the Coliseum. Combined tickets for the entrance to the Coliseum (ground floor and first floor) and the Roman Forum are included. Afternoon at leisure.      

Day 4 Monday, March 9     ROME
Early transfer to the Vatican. Meet your local guide in order to enter the museum as a group before 9:00am. Receive your “whisper" headset, which will allow you to follow the explanations of your guide during the 4 hour tour. This includes the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel and Saint Peter’s Basilica.
N.B. Groups are confirmed by the Vatican office 30 days prior the visit and could be cancelled at any time without notice.
Afternoon at leisure. Return to hotel on your own.

Day 5 Tuesday, March 10     ROME
Walk to Piazza Barberini to meet your guide at 9:30am for a walking tour of the Old City of Rome. During this 3 hour tour you will see Piazza de Spagna, Piazza Navona and the Trevi Fountain. An inside visit of the Patheon Church is included. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 6 Wednesday, March 11     ROME
Full day sightseeing with coach and guide services for 8 hours. During this tour you will visit the Church of Saint Paul Outside the Walls. Afterwards, drive to Ostia Antica to visit the excavations.

Day 7 Thursday, March 12     ROME
Morning sightseeing with coach and guide services for 4 hours. During this tour you will visit the churches of San Clemente, Saint Peter in Chains and Saint Mary Major. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 8 Friday, March 13     ROME
Full day at leisure.

Day 9 Saturday, March 14     RETURN
Assistance and early transfer to Rome Fiumicino airport. Delta flight # DL 149 leaves at 9:15am. Check-in should be around 6:00am. Expected arrival time at Kennedy is 2:00pm. Transfer back to Harrisburg campus.

This price includes:

  • Round trip flights from JFK to ROME with Delta Airlines.
  • Transfers between Penn State Harrisburg campus and JFK airport (see note below in reference to this service).
  • Airport and security taxes at $80.00 (subject to increase and adjustment at time of ticketing).
  • "Q" tax for fuel surcharge at $330.00 as per August 2008 (subject to increase and adjustment at time of ticketing).
  • Transfers, assistance, guide services and sightseeing as per itinerary.
  • 7 nights accommodation in double room at Hotel Diana.
  • American breakfast daily.
  • Supervision of Penn State Faculty .
  • Compulsory Penn State Health Insurance.

This price does not include:

  • Single room supplement + $ 470.00.
  • Triple room discount - $20.00.
  • Cost of personal items such as phone, drinks, laundry, etc.
  • Meals other than specified.
  • Optional travel insurance.
  • Passport & visa fee.
    Everyone needs a passport valid until September 14, 2009. If you are not an American citizen a visa may be required. A green card is compulsory.

TRANSFERS CAMPUS / AIRPORT / CAMPUS

Transfers between Penn State Harrisburg campus and international airports such as Newark, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington Reagan, Washington Dulles and Kennedy are usually included in all of our trips. However, as group size is unpredictable, the price of these transfers varies considerably according to the size of the group.

If a minimum of 25 paying passengers are registered for the trip, a coach will be provided and transfer costs are included in the trip price.
If less than 25 paying passengers are registered for the trip, either a supplement will apply for private transportation (maximum $50.00 each way) or public transportation will be considered.

Course Registration

Course registration is separate. Upon receipt of your deposit, Celestial Voyagers will send you a receipt that you must present to register for the course.

Trip Registration

All participants planning to share a room must inform Celestial Voyagers when they register for the trip. Failure to do so may oblige Celestial Voyagers to assign you different roommates.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

At Celestial Voyagers, our terms are based on contracts with airlines, hotels and other suppliers. The terms and stipulations mentioned below are bound by these contracts and will be strictly enforced.

Deposit $500.00
$150.00 of which is a non-refundable processing fee.
The sooner you send your deposit, the better - if possible, prior to December 5.
After December 5, if group air space is sold out, a supplement may apply due to higher airfare.

All payments by check to be made out to Celestial Voyagers escrow account.
Your deposit will secure your reservation with the airline, the hotel and other suppliers.
It must be sent with a copy of your passport as soon as your registration has been made online. Do not forget the optional travel insurance premium if you choose to purchase it.

Balance due no later than January 16, 2009

Credit card payments:
We accept Visa and Mastercard. Since merchant fees are not included in the price, should you wish to pay by credit card, a 3.5% supplement applies to the amount paid.

Cancellation:
All cancellations must be sent in writing. In case of cancellation the following penalties will apply:

  • $150.00 processing fee if written cancellation is received prior to December 4, 2008.
  • $150.00 additional (total $300.00) if written cancellation is received between December 5, 2008 and January 4 2009.
  • Penalty of 50% of the cost of the trip if written cancellation is received between January 5 and February 1, 2009.
  • Penalty of 100% of the cost of the trip if written cancellation is received on or after February 2, 2009 and in case of no-show.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

We strongly recommend that you avail yourself of travel insurance as protection against penalties as well as baggage damage and travel delays. Without insurance, if you cancel your trip within a few days of the departure date, the total value of the trip will not be refunded. Pre-existing medical conditions are covered only if the insurance registration has been submitted within 14 days of sending your deposit.

DELIVERY OF AIRLINE TICKETS & TRAVEL DOCUMENTS.Travel documents will be sent to Penn State College and delivered by your professor.If your documents have to be sent individually, you must submit your request with your address in writing.
