ITINERARY

DAY 1THURSDAY, APRIL 2DEPARTURE

Depart from Kennedy on LAN Flight LA # 531 leaving at 11:30pm. Check-in should be around 8:30pm.

DAY 2FRIDAY, APRIL 3CUSCO

Arrive in Lima at 6:30am and connect with Lan Peru flight LP # 031 leaving at 9:30am and arriving in Cusco at 10:45am. Transfer to your hotel. Afternoon city tour includes visits to the main square, the cathedral, the “Templo del Sol” or Koricancha, an important worship spot, the 12-angle stone and the colorful district of San Blas, the Sasayhuaman fortress and its cyclopean wall, the Tambomachy, Quenco, Puca Pucara, the Lanlacuyoc worship spots and the “Templo de Luna” where some Andean religious practices are still held today.

DAY 3SATURDAY, APRIL 4MACHU PICCHU

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning transfer to the station for your train to Machu Picchu. Arrive in Aguas Calientes, where you will take the bus to Machu Picchu, the great archaelogical ruins discovered in 1911 by Huram Bingham. Lunch is included at a local restaurant.

DAY 4SUNDAY, APRIL 5MACHU PICCHU/CUSCO

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning at leisure. You can return to the ruins by taking a half hour bus ride. Return to Cusco by train in the afternoon and transfer to your hotel.

DAY 5MONDAY, APRIL 6PUNO

Morning drive to Puno. En route, stop and visit the Wiracocha temple in the Inca town of Raqchi. Then, in Andahuaylillas visit the 16th century church considered as the “Sistine Chapel” of Peru!

DAY 6TUESDAY, APRIL 7PUNO

Breakfast at the hotel. Today, visit the 40 floating islands of the Uros Indians who live on Lake Titicaca, the highest lake in the world. Then visit the Taquile Island where the local farmers have developed an original form of communal tourism in which they receive visitors and share their food, housing, customs and traditions. Lunch is included. Return to Puno.

DAY 7WEDNESDAY, APRIL 8AREQUIPA

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning drive to Arequipa with guide.

DAY 8THURSDAY, APRIL 9LIMA

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning at leisure. Afternoon city tour that includes visits to the main square, the Cathedral, Santa Catalina Convent, which is now open to visitors after more than 400 years of claustral life, and the Huasacache palace, also known as La Casa del Fundador.

DAY 9FRIDAY, APRIL 10LIMA

Breakfast at the hotel. Day at leisure for shopping and your own activities. Farewell dinner with folklore show and then transfer to the airport to depart on LAN flight LA # 530 leaving at 11:50 pm.

DAY 10SATURDAY, APRIL 11ARRIVAL

Arrive at Kennedy airport 7:30 am.

including $500.00 fuel surcharge and taxes.

All participants are required to have a valid passport and provide proof of medical insurance.


This price includes:

  • Round trip flights from Kennedy to Lima with Lan Chile.
  • Flights: Lima/Cusco/Arequipa/Lima with Lan Peru.
  • Airport and security taxes at $70.00 (subject to adjustment at time of ticketing).
  • 'Q' tax for fuel surcharge at $430.00 as per August 2008 (subject to increase and adjustment at time of ticketing).
  • Breakfast daily.
  • 8 nights accommodation in 3 and 4 star hotels - double room.
  • Sightseeing and entrance fees as per itinerary.
  • Park entrance fee at Machu Picchu.
  • English speaking guides.
  • Porterage 1 piece of luggage per person at hotels.

This price does not include:

  • Single room supplement +$740.00.
  • Merchant fee of 3.5% on any payments amount by Visa or MasterCard.
  • Cost of personal items such as phone, drinks, laundry, etc.
  • Gratuities to local guides and drivers.
  • Optional travel insurance covering trip cancellation in case of medical emergency.
  • Meals other than breakfast.
  • Passport & visa fees.

Every American citizen needs a passport valid until October 11, 2009. A green card is compulsory for returning to the US.

PAYMENT (TERMS & CONDITIONS)

Deposit: $500.00 by check only to be received prior to January 23, 2009.


Balance due no later than January 23, 2009


All check payments to be made out to Celestial Voyagers escrow account. Your deposit secures your reservation with the airline, the hotel and other suppliers. It must be sent with a copy of your passport, the registration form and the optional travel insurance premium, should you choose to purchase it.


Credit card payments:
We accept Visa and Master Card. Since Merchant fees are not included in the package price, a 3.5% supplement applies if you wish to pay by credit card.

Cancellation:
All cancellations must be received in writing. The following penalties will apply:

  • $150.00 processing fee upon receipt of a written cancellation.
  • $150.00 additional fee for cancellation received between December 12, 2008 and January 23, 2009
  • Penalty of 50% of the cost of the trip if written cancellation is received between January 24 and February 20, 2009.
  • Penalty of 100% of the cost of the trip if written cancellation is received after February 21, 2009 and in case of a no-show.

These policies will be strictly applied.
In case of cancellation due to medical emergency, penalties will be covered under ACCESS AMERICA travel insurance which may be purchased at an additional cost. Pre-existing conditions are covered only if insurance has been submitted and paid for with your deposit.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

We strongly recommend that you avail yourself of travel insurance as protection against penalties as well as baggage damage and travel delays. Without insurance, if you cancel your trip within a few days of the departure date, the total value of the trip will not be refunded. Pre-existing medical conditions are covered only if the insurance registration has been submitted within 14 days of sending your deposit.

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

Pre Departure Meeting
Airline tickets and travel documents will be delivered at the pre departure meeting held at St. Joseph's College 2 or 3 weeks prior to departure. Sister Joan will let you know the date and place of the meeting in due time.

Special Delivery of Documents
If you cannot attend the above meeting nor have the documents collected, Celestial Voyagers can send them via special delivery, FEDEX or US Postal Service.

If your documents have to be sent individually, you must submit your request for this service in writing and supply your address. Somebody will need to be home to sign to receive the package and a $20.00 administration, handling and mailing fee applies.
