OVERVIEW

How better to ring in 2010 than going to Paris and starting the year with a dinner at “Au Chien Qui Fume”? Visiting the romantic and cultural sites of the French Capital and enjoying the famous “ Art de Vivre” with the Parisians will be an unforgettable experience.

ITINERARY

DAY 1 SATURDAY DEC 26 DEPARTURE

Depart from Washington Dulles airport to Paris. Overnight flight with Air France.

DAY 2 SUNDAY DEC 27 PARIS

On arrival, transfer to your hotel located on the Grands Boulevards in the 9th district, by rue Montmartre. Start exploring your neighborhood: Walk to the Opera, Madeleine church, Place de la Concorde and Place Vendome.

DAY 3 MONDAY DEC 28 PARIS

Explore Paris. Among the many areas you may want to visit are Le Marais, Place des Voges, the Ile Saint Louis and Ile de la Cite (Notre Dame). Walk around the Latin Quarter where students and intellectuals meet in the cafes of Saint Michel, Saint Germain or Montparnasse. Museums are closed on either Mondays or Tuesdays.

DAY 4 TUESDAY DEC 29 PARIS

Another free day to enjoy the city. The Musee d'Orsay is open today and well worth a visit. Installed in a former railway station by the river Seine, it features art from 1848 to 1914, including an extensive collection of Impressionist masterpieces.

DAY 5 WEDNESDAY DEC 30 PARIS

There is much more to see in Paris: the Champs Elysées, the Eiffel Tower, the Sacré Coeur at Montmartre. You could also take a ride on the famous T.G.V., the French fast train which in less than 3 hours takes you to Dijon, Lyon, Reims or Strasbourg. You could experience the Eurostar, traveling to England under the English Channel, and spend the day in London.

DAY 6 THURSDAY DEC 31 PARIS

Enjoy a day in Versailles, visiting the splendid Palace of Louis XIV, its gardens and the Grand and Petit Trianon as well as the Hamlet of Marie Antoinette. The train to Versailles Rive-Gauche leaves from Gare St. Michel. Celebrate New Year’s Eve with a dinner at the restaurant “Au Chien Qui Fume”.

DAY 7 FRIDAY JAN 1 PARIS

Day at leisure in Paris for more sightseeing.

DAY 8 SATURDAY JAN 2 PARIS

Full day excursion to the Loire Valley. This optional tour leaves at 7:00 am and returns at 7:00 pm. It includes a photo stop at Chambord, a visit to Chenonceau and a stop in the small town of Amboise. The price is $95.00 with a minimum of 15 passengers.

DAY 9 SUNDAY JAN 3 PARIS

Last day in Paris. You may want to visit the Louvre Museum, less than 20 minutes walk from your hotel as you follow the rue de Richelieu. Today, entrance is free, as it is the first Sunday of the month. Be there early!

DAY 10 MONDAY JAN 4 RETURN

Transfer to Charles de Gaulle airport for your return flight to Washington Dulles airport with Air France

•    Single room supplement + $715.00

Everyone needs a passport valid until July 5, 2010. If you are not an American citizen, a visa may  be required. A Green Card or equivalent is compulsory.

PAYMENT (TERMS & CONDITIONS)

Celestial Voyagers’ terms relate to contracts with airlines, hotels and other suppliers. The regulations below must be strictly enforced as they are related to these contracts.

Deposit $300.00 due upon registration and before September 25 , 2009


Balance due no later than October 26, 2009

After October 26 full payment is due with registration

Space may be available until November 26. Nevertheless, after September 25 airfare may increase and an additional $100.00 late fee will apply.

 

All check payments to be made out to Celestial Voyagers escrow account. Your deposit secures your reservation with the airline, the hotel and other suppliers. It must be sent with a copy of your passport and the registration form.


Credit card payments:
We accept Visa and MasterCard. Since Merchant fees are not included in the package price, a 3.5% supplement applies should you wish to pay by credit card.

 

Cancellation:
All cancellations must be received in writing. Tthe following penalties apply:

* $150.00 non-refundable processing fee

* Penalty of 50% of the total trip cost if cancellation is received between September 25 and October 26

* Penalty of 100% of the total trip cost if cancellation is received after October 27 and in case of a no-show.

These policies will be strictly applied.

 

 

TRAVEL INSURANCE

All travelers on Penn State programs are required to purchase travel insurance through HTH Worldwide. Students will be sent enrollment information 2 weeks prior to departure. Non-students must purchase TravelGap or TripProtector from http://www.hthtravelinsurance.com.

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

Travel documents will be delivered at Penn State, York Campus by Miss Flinchbaugh. If you cannot meet with Miss Flinchbaugh, please advise her  as well as Celestial Voyagers.

 

If your documents have to be sent directly to you, you must submit your request for this service in writing and supply your address. Somebody will need to be home to sign for tthe package and a $20.00 administration, handling and mailing fee applies.
