OVERVIEW

Your first stop is Stockholm, a metropolis of noble buildings sited on islands. Next is Copenhagen, home of the world's oldest monarchy. You will also visit Roskilde, where you can inspect Viking ships and artifacts. One special concern on this tour is understanding the Scandinavian quality of life, so you will visit with consular officials at the US Embassy in Copenhagen and faculty members at the University of Copenhagen to discuss the similarities and differences between Denmark and the United States.

 

ITINERARY

DAY 1 FRIDAY MAR 5 DEPARTURE

Depart from Newark with SAS non-stop to Stockholm at 5:55 PM. Check-in at Newark airport should be between 3 and 4 PM

DAY 2 SATURDAY MAR 6 STOCKHOLM

Arrival Stockholm at 7:40 AM. Assistance and transfer to Hotel Tegnerlunden where you will stay for 2 nights.Visit of Stockholm on arrival.

DAY 3 SUNDAY MAR 7 STOCKHOLM

Full day excursion to Uppsala and Sigtuna. Photo stop at Uppsala Castle. View the Viking Burial Ground. Visit the Sigtuna Cultural Centre.

DAY 4 MONDAY MAR 8 COPENHAGEN

Transfer to airport for a morning flight to Copenhagen. Departure 10:00 AM. arrival 11:10 AM
Assistance and transfer to your hotel on arrival. Check-in at Hotel Absalon for 5 nights. Afternoon Grand tour of Copenhagen.

DAY 5 TUESDAY MAR 9 COPENHAGEN

Morning excursion to go and visit ROSKILDE, one of Denmark oldest city. guided tour of Roskilde on arrival. Afternoon at leisure.

DAY 6 WEDNESDAY MAR 10 COPENHAGEN

Afternoon visit to the US Embassy.

DAY 7 THURSDAY MAR 11 COPENHAGEN

Morning visit to the Copenhagen University.

DAY 8 FRIDAY MAR 12 COPENHAGEN

Day at leisure. Site suggestions:
- To go and see the Changing of the Guard which takes place every day at 12 noon at Amalienborg Palace, no matter what the weather might be like.
- Stroll along Stroget, Copenhagen pedestrian shopping zone and the longest shopping street in Europe
- Enjoy various sites of Danish Architecture & Design represented by famous architects such as Arne Jacobsen as well as Jorn Utzon who designed the Sydney Opera House.

DAY 9 SATURDAY MAR 13 RETURN

Transfer to the airport for your SAS flight back to Newark. Departure 12:20 pm arrival Newark 3:15 pm

PAYMENT (TERMS & CONDITIONS)

Celestial Voyagers’ terms relate to contracts with airlines, hotels and other suppliers. The regulations below must be strictly enforced as they are related to these contracts.

 

Deposit $500 .00 due upon registration and before December 4, 2009


Balance due no later than January 3, 2010

 

After December 4 full payment is due with registration

All check payments to be made out to Celestial Voyagers escrow account. Your deposit secures your reservation with the airline, the hotel and other suppliers. It must be sent with a copy of your passport and the registration form.


Credit card payments:
We accept Visa and MasterCard. Since Merchant fees are not included in the package price, a 3.5% supplement applies should you wish to pay by credit card.

 

Cancellation:
All cancellations must be received in writing. The following penalties apply:

* $150.00 non-refundable processing fee

* $150.00 additional (total $300.00) if written cancellation is received between Nov 6 - Dec 4

* Penalty of 50% of the total trip cost if cancellation is received between December 5 and January 14, 2010

* Penalty of 100% of the total trip cost if cancellation is received on or after January 15, 2010 and in case of a no-show.

 

These policies will be strictly applied.

 

TRAVEL INSURANCE

All travelers on Penn State programs are required to purchase travel insurance through HTH Worldwide. Students will be sent enrollment information 2 weeks prior to departure. Non-students must purchase TravelGap or TripProtector from http://www.hthtravelinsurance.com.

Travel documents will be sent to Penn State College and delivered by your professor.

 

If your documents have to be sent directly to you, you must submit your request for this service in writing and supply your address. Somebody will need to be home to sign for the package and a $20.00 administration, handling and mailing fee applies.
