ITINERARY

DAY 1 SUNDAY DECEMBER 26 DEPARTURE
Depart from Washington Dulles International Airport to Paris. Overnight flight with Air France.
DAY 2 MONDAY DECEMBER 27 PARIS
On arrival, transfer to your hotel located on the Grands Boulevards in the 9th district, by rue Montmartre. Start exploring your neighborhood: walk to the opera, Madeleine Church, Place de la Concorde, and Place Vendome.
DAY 3 TUESDAY DECEMBER 28 PARIS
Explore Paris. Among the many areas you may want to visit are Le Marais, Place des Voges, the Ile Saint Louis and Ile de la Cite (Notre Dame). Walk around the Latin Quarter where students and intellectuals meet in the cafes of Saint Michel, Saint Germain or Montparnasse. Museums are closed on either Mondays or Tuesdays.
DAY 4 WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 29 PARIS
Another free day to enjoy the city. The Musee d'Orsay is open today and well worth a visit. Installed in a former railway station by the river Seine, it features art from 1848 to 1914, including an extensive collection of Impressionist masterpieces.
DAY 5 THURSDAY DECEMBER 30 PARIS
There is much more to see in Paris: the Champs Elysées, the Eiffel Tower, the Sacré Coeur at Montmartre. You could also take a ride on the famous TGV, the French fast train and enjoy an optional day excursion to Dijon, the capital of Burgundy. The price is $100.
DAY 6 FRIDAY DECEMBER 31 PARIS
Enjoy a day in Versailles, visiting the splendid Palace of Louis XIV and, its gardens, the Grand and the Petit Trianon as well as the Hamlet of Marie Antoinette. The train to Versailles Rive Gauche leaves from Gare St. Michel. New Year’s Eve dinner at the restaurant “Au Chien Qui Fume."
DAY 7 SATURDAY JANUARY 1 PARIS
Day at leisure in Paris for more sightseeing.
DAY 8 SUNDAY JANUARY 2 PARIS
You may want to visit the Louvre Museum, less than twenty minutes walk from your hotel as you follow the rue de Richelieu. Today, entrance is free, as it is the first Sunday of the month. Be there early!
DAY 9 MONDAY JANUARY 3 PARIS
Full day excursion to the Loire Valley. This optional tour leaves at 7:00 a.m. and returns at 7:00 p.m. It includes a photo stop at Chambord, a visit to Chenonceau and a stop in the small town of Amboise. The price is $110 with a minimum of fifteen passengers.
DAY 10 TUESDAY JANUARY 4 RETURN
Transfer to the Charles de Gaulle airport for your return flight to Washington Dulles International Airport with Air France.

*   Air taxes and surcharges at $400 subject to adjustment at time of ticketing

*  Transfers between Charles de Gaulle Airport and hotel
*   Eight nights accommodation in double room at Hotel Mercure Ronceray

*  Buffet breakfast daily

*  Supervision by Penn State Professor, Ms. Suzanne Flinchbaugh

 

This price does not include:

*  Single room supplement + $625

*  Optional day excursion by TGV to Dijon + $100

*  Possible day excursion to Normandy with either Cityrama or Parisvision

*  Entrance fees to museums

*  Cost of personal items: phone, drinks, laundry, etc

*  HTH travel and health insurance required by Penn State

* Passport and visa: everyone needs a passport valid until July 4, 2011.

   If you are not an American citizen, a visa is required. A Green Card is compulsory.

Registration by mail:

You can mail your reservation  form along with your payment with a copy of your passport, if available.

If you will not be a student at the time of this trip or a Penn State employee, you must enroll in the following continuing education course before registering for this trip. Registration forms for this continuing education course, FR 5016A, Schedule Number 515159, can be obtained in the Academic Affairs office, Room 121, Main Classroom Building or by contacting Jane Pflaum at 717-771-4051.

This course will meet October 21, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The fee to register for this course is $30. The deadline for registration is October 14. All participants must be 18 years of age at the time of the trip.

 

PAYMENT (TERMS & CONDITIONS)

Celestial Voyagers’ terms and conditions relate to contracts with airlines, hotels and other suppliers. The regulations below will therefore be strictly enforced.


Deposit $300 due upon registration and before September 25, 2010


Balance due no later than October 26, 2010


After September 25 full payment is due with registration


Space may be available after these deadlines. Nevertheless, after September 26  airfare may increase and
an additional $100.00 late fee will apply.


All check payments to be made out to Celestial Voyagers escrow account. Your deposit secures your
reservation with the airline, the hotel and other suppliers. It must be sent with a copy of your passport
and the registration form.


Credit card payments:
We accept Visa and MasterCard. Since merchant fees are not included in the package price, should you wish to pay by this method, a supplement of 3.5 percent applies.


Cancellation:
All cancellations must be received in writing. The following penalties apply:


* $150 nonrefundable processing fee
* Penalty of 50 percent of the total trip price if cancellation is received between September 25 and

  October 26, 2010
* Penalty of 100 percent of the total trip price if cancellation is received on or after October 27, 2010 and       in case of a no-show.


These policies will be strictly applied.

We strongly recommend that you avail yourself of travel insurance as protection against these penalties. Please check with HTH Travel Insurance for plans and premiums.


 

TRAVEL INSURANCE

All travelers on Penn State programs are required to purchase travel insurance through HTH Worldwide. Students will be sent enrollment information two weeks prior to departure. Non-students must purchase TravelGap or TripProtector from http://www.hthtravelinsurance.com.

Travel documents will be delivered at Penn State, York by Miss Flinchbaugh. If you cannot meet
with Miss Flinchbaugh, please advise her as well as Celestial Voyagers.


If your documents have to be sent directly to you, you must submit your request for this service in
writing and supply your address. Somebody will need to be home to sign for the package and a $20
administration, handling and mailing fee applies.
