Day 2 - Rome
Sunday, October 13th, 2019

This morning, you are greeted by our local drivers and host for a transfer to the city and a check-in at your hotel (early check in will be requested, but is not guaranteed) There, you meet your private guide for the day. Get ready for 4 hours of Rome discovery to include the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, the Coliseum and the Roman Forum. A short lunch break (own account) will be organized. After your guided tour, rest of the day at leisure for some shopping or simply stroll the magical streets of the eternal city. Tonight, we have organized dinner (included) at one of our favorite local’s. Enjoy a truly unique experience by being hosted by a Roman, at their home, where they have prepared for you an incredible Roman feast served with Italian wines and Prosecco.

Day 3 - Rome→Tuscany
Monday, October 14th, 2019

This morning, your guide collects you at the hotel for an early visit of the Vatican (3 hours).

After your visit, you are picked up by your local guide for a 2h30 minute journey to Tuscany and your villa. On the way, we stop by Orvieto for lunch (included) and a quick visit of this beautiful Umbrian town, former home of several Popes. Orvieto sits on a volcanic tufa-rock plateau, an impregnable position cleverly selected by the Etruscans, probably its first inhabitants. After exploring the Etruscan tombs outside the city, a funicular up the Tufo plateau takes you to the Centro Storico of Orvieto.

A walk up one of the main streets takes you past the workshops of many an artisan, winding past the 13th c. municipal palace. Not far away, uncover Etruscan ruins in a medieval church and stop to visit the workshop of a famed wood-worker. You’ll want to take in the wonders of Orvieto’s zebra-striped Gothic Duomo – and not just the famous splendid Renaissance fresco cycle of Luca Signorelli.

Day 4 - TUSCANY – Introduction to Florence
Tuesday, October 15th, 2019

This morning, after a wonderful traditional breakfast, we make our way to the lovely Florence. There, our local professors Pablo or Oscar awaits for a private walking tour of the city. After the 4-hour tour, guests are invited to wander the city for lunch (recommendations will be made).

After lunch (own account) and some time for shopping, we make our way back to the property but not without stopping by one of our favorite wineries for a mid to late afternoon “degustation” of the Chianti wines.

After a long day, dinner is served in the comfort of your villa (on the patio if weather permits)

About Florence

Florence’s museums, palaces, and churches house some of the greatest artistic treasures in the world. The most popular and important sites in Florence include the Cathedral, the Baptistery, the Uffizi, the Bargello, and the Accademia. The churches of Santa Maria Novella and Santa Croce are veritable art galleries, and the library of San Lorenzo is a magnificent exhibition of Michelangelo’s architectural genius. Wander some of the oldest streets in the city until you reach the Arno River, cross the Ponte Vecchio, and experience the “newest” area of Florence, the Oltrarno. Be sure to set aside time to see the vast and varied art collection housed in the Pitti Palace. When you grow weary of museums and monuments, head outdoors. Spend a day at the Boboli Gardens or climb the hill to the church of San Miniato al Monte to experience an enchanting view of Florence.

Day 5 - TUSCANY – Montepulciano & San Gimignano
Wednesday, October 16th, 2019

It is impossible to leave Tuscany without a visit to two of its most famous towns. First, we visit San Gimignano (depending on the property selection, this itinerary may be reversed). There, we stop for lunch (included) before making our way to Montepulciano.

About Montepulciano Montepulciano, located in the Val di Chiana of Tuscany, Italy, within easy reach of the Val d’Orcia,
is one of the most attractive hills towns in Tuscany. It is built on a ridge of Monte Poliziano in the province of Sienna in Tuscany.
It is the ancient Etruscan city of Nocera Alfaterna, which in 308 B.C. made an alliance with Rome against the Samnites.
In the Middle Ages it was under the control of Florence, but was conquered by Sienna in 1260. The main street of Montepulciano
stretches for 11.5 kilometers from the Porta al Prato to the Piazza Grande at the top of the hill. The cathedral was built in 1619, from
plans by Scalzo and until the 18 C it held the tomb of Bartolomeo Arragazzi, secretary of Pope Martin V, a work of Michelozzo.
The church of the Madonna di San Biagio was planned by Antonio da Sangallo (1518-37).

About San Gimignano San Gimignano, a small walled village about halfway between Florence and Siena, is famous for its fascinating
medieval architecture and towers that rise above of all the other buildings offering an impressive view of the city from the
surrounding valley. At the height of its glory, San Gimignano’s patrician families had built around 72 tower-houses as symbols
of their wealth and power. Although only 14 have survived, San Gimignano still retains its feudal atmosphere and appearance. Recognized as
a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1990, San Gimignano offers visitors the chance to step back in time while
enjoying its local products including saffron and its white wine, the Vernaccia di San Gimignano.

On the way back to the property, we stop by one of our favorite producer of Montepulciano wines. There, you get a tour of the cellars and facilities, before a tasting followed by an early dinner.

Day 6 - TUSCANY – Siena & cooking class
Thursday, October 17th, 2019

Cooking class, then Siena

This morning, we depart for our cooking class in a local wine estate. Guests will have a tour of the estate before tackling lunch and helping the chef make fresh pasta and tiramisu before gathering around a large table to share the excellent meal prepared by all.

We then depart for Siena where our local guide awaits for a 2-hour walking tour, after which guests are invited to discover some more of the city for some fantastic shopping.

We then head back to the property where dinner is served by the property’s chef.

About Siena Siena is likely Italy’s loveliest medieval city, and a trip worth making even if you are in Tuscany for just a few days. Siena’s heart is its central piazza known asIl Campo, known worldwide for the famous Palio run here, a horse race run around the piazza two times every summer. Movie audiences worldwide can see Siena and the Palio in the James Bond movie,Quantum of Solace. Siena is said to have been founded by Senius, son of Remus, one of the two legendary founders of Rome thus Siena’s emblem is the she-wolf who suckled Remus and Romulus – you’ll find many statues throughout the city. The city sits over three hills with its heart the huge piazza del Campo, where the Roman forum used to be. Rebuilt during the rule of the Council of Nine, a quasi-democratic group from 1287 to 1355, the nine sections of the fan-like brick pavement of the piazza represent the council and symbolizes the Madonna’s cloak which shelters Siena

Day 7 - TUSCANY – Farm to Table experience
Friday, October 18th, 2019

This morning, guests interested in a farm experience will join us as we visit two Tuscan estates. Our second farm stop will include a demonstration of cheese making followed by lunch with the farm owners (who also serve a fantastic local wine). On the way back, we stop by Pienza for a very quick tour of the village (by its sheer size, it is a very fast visit) followed by some cheese tasting and gelato. We are back at the property on time to freshen up before our farewell dinner, organized off-site at one of our favorite venues, restaurant dell’Amorosa (https://www.amorosa.it/en/restaurant). Your dinner comes with wine pairings and lovely dessert options.
