It was founded by the members of the Peugeot family and opened in 1988 within the industrial site of the company, in Sochaux.

Departure to Besançon and visit the capital of Franche-Comté, very close to the Swiss border. The old city center lies in a horseshoe bend on the banks of the River Doubs. The sprawling citadel, perched on a hill, is home to 3 museums, a zoo and a third of a mile of remparts. At the foot of the hill, Besançon Cathedral has a unique astronomical clock which indicates sunrise, sunset, eclipses and tides in the French ports. Part of the sightseeing will be a lunch cruise on the “Vauban”.
In the afternoon, guided visit of the Vauban Fortress in Belfort
Belfort has been a fortified place since the Middle Ages when a castle was built in 1226. After withstanding seven sieges, the medieval fortifications were modernized by the comte de la Suze (1637 – 1648). Vauban added horneworks and barracks to the castle and enclosed the city in a new wall according to Vauban “second system”. The fortifications successfully resisted a siege in 1815.
Return to your hotel and dinner on your own.
