Day 1 - Departure - Departure
Check-in at JFK Airport, terminal 1 should be no later than 2:00 PM
Group departs from JFK with an overnight flight to Athens, via Rome.
4:55 PM – Flight AZ#609 leaves JFK
Day 2 - Athens - Athens
Arrive Rome at 7:10 AM, proceed to your connecting flight
8:50 AM – flight AZ#720 departs arrive Athens at 11:45 AM.
Assistance and transfer to hotel Titania located in the center of town.
Check in at Hotel for 2 nights.
Remainder of the day at leisure.
Welcome dinner with wine in a local Tavern. Coach transfers are included.
Day 3 - Athens - Athens
9:00 AM: Meet your guide for a morning sightseeing of Athens.
4-hour guided tour: the New Museum of the Acropolis, the Theatre of Dionysus, Acropolis and the Parthenon. Coach included ?
Spend the remaining of the afternoon at leisure.
Day 4 - Overnight ferry to Heraklion - Ferry to Heraklion
Leave the hotel with your luggage.
Full day excursion to go to Nimea, Epidaurus and Nafplion. Via the coastal national highway you will arrive to Corinth for a short stop at the canal. Then you’ ll enter the region of Argolis. Around Nemea the soil produces robust wines.
You will visit one of the wineries on the he wine road of Korinthia followed with a visit to a pottery factory.
In the afternoon, proceed through Argos to Nafplio the first capital of modern Greece. Continue to Epidaurus, visit the ancient theatre, a Unesco Heritage site, known for its amazing acoustic.
You drive back to Athens going directly to Piraeus to embark for the ferry crossing to Crete. Embark on the ferry by 6:30 PM. Ship sails at 9:00 PM. This ferry is more like a cruise ship. Facilities on board include a shopping centre, slot machines, Wi-Fi, swimming pool, cinema and a disco.
Day 5 - Heraklion, Crete - Heraklion
Crete is the largest of all the Greek Islands. You ‘ll disembark at 7:30AM and go to the hotel to leave your luggage and have breakfast.
9:00 AM to 1:00 PM morning guided tour to visit the unique Minoan Palace of Knossos and the
archeological museum of Heraklion. Crete Minoan culture is considered the European oldest civilization. As you admire the restored frescoes that depict Minoan life you will step milleniums back in history. In Heraklion you will see the main attractions, such as Koules Venetian Fortress, Lion Square, and the Church of St. Titos.
Afternoon at leisure.
Day 6 - Heraklion Crete - Heraklion
Tour to Agios Nikolaos and Elounda: Agritourism.
9:30 AM departure – around 50 miles drive each way. Elounda is a small fishing village, location of the BBC television series “Who Pays the Ferryman”. It is also a holiday resort visited by VIPs Visit an Olive Farm where you will learn about most of the Cretan products especially olive oil, raki the local Cretan drink, trees and herbs.
Continue to Agios Nikolaos, a picturesque small town with nice local shops.
Return to Heraklion around 4:30 PM

Day 7 - Crete, Overnight ferry to Athens - Overnight Ferry
9:00 AM Departure for Rethymnon and Vamos.
Vamos village is a traditional settlement where you will feel like a true Cretan in its village: Watch how to make local cheese, the most typical Cretan cheese from sheep milk. Discuss the cheese making procedure and taste different kind of cheeses made from sheep or goat milk. Then, join a traditional cooking class. You will taste and learn local recipes . You’ll prepare delicious dishes under the guidance of a Cretan cook; all dishes are made of genuine pure Cretan products: olive oil, cheese, meat, wine, fresh and local herbs and vegetables. You will learn about their nutritional value and usage. Then, you will all eat together on a long monastery-style table, enjoying the fruits of your labor with local wine and bread, Greek music and nice stories……
As you return, stop in the town of Rethimnon where monuments of the archaeological, Ottoman and Venetian eras coexist. Have a stroll in the old town, take photos of the Turkish minarets and the Venetian fortresses or just enjoy a drink at the terrace of a cafe facing the harbor. Embark ferry around 7:00 PM. Sailing is at 9:00 PM to return to Athens.
Day 8 - Athens - Athens
Breakfast on board, before your disembark at 7:30 AM.
Proceed for a morning excursion to Cape Sounion where you will see the Temple of Poseidon dominating the Agean Sea. You will drive along the coast passing the beaches and coves from where you may have some panoramic views of the Saronic Bay.
Check-in at hotel for one night.
Afternoon at leisure
Farewell dinner in Plaka at a typical Greek Taverna.
Day 9 - Return
9:00 AM: Depart to the airport after breakfast. Transfer to airport.
Check-in at Alitalia counter at 10:00 AM
Flight AZ# 719 leaves Athens at 12:40 PM and arrives Rome at 1:45 PM
Connecting flight AZ#610 leaves Rome at 2:45 PM and arrives JFK at 7:35PM
